African Black Soap For Natural Hair
About eight years ago i somehow got introduce to African black soap for hair and skin. Since then i have not looked back again. I love using African black soap for my natural hair, but i also love using it for my skin. Duren these past few years, I’ve been experimenting with the best way to liquify African black soap for natural hair. I have finally found a formula that works best for my thin fine natural hair.

Let me quickly introduce my self for my newbies 🙂

“ Hi earthling, my name is Adede. I am a natural hair enthusiast, a wife, a mother, and a psychiatric nurse. I have a youtube channel and a blog where i share tips and tricks for thin/fine natural hair sisters. basically, i learn by experimenting with my hair and sharing my experience with my earthlings. You can thank me later 🙂 “.

I have an in-depth blog post covering everything you need to know about African black soap. You can find it here. African black soap is entirely loaded with antioxidants and minerals like potassium and magnesium. It also contains vitamins A and E. This high nutrient content makes it far better to other soaps. It’s important to know what type of African black soap you are using for your natural hair. there are serval “fake” or ‘mix’ African black soap out there on the market.

Real African black soap is all-natural and made by local women in Ghana and other African African countries. It adds nourishment to the scalp, instead of stripping the nutrients away. The color of the real African black soap is slightly brown. It’s not totally black. Most mixed of fake African black soap is black. Real African black soaps are mostly soft, you should be able to break it with your hands.

Ways to use African black soap for natural hair

There are multiple ways you can prepare the African black soap for natural hair.

    • You can use it directly on your scalp: Some people choose to use the soap directly on their scalp. this method saves you preparation time, but it can also lead to major dryness of the hair. Because of the high concentration of the soap when diet diluted with water.
    • Liquify it with water, carrier oils and essential oils: To avoid dryness, some people choose to use water to dilute it and on top of that add carries oils and essential oils.
    • Liquify it with water and essential oils: This is my favorite way of using it. I don’t like it too concentrated, but i also don’t like it to be filled with carrier oils. When i add too many oils, my hair gets moisture overload. My hair loves it with just a few drops of essential oils.

The most important step in the multiple ways of using the African black soap for natural hair is to do an apple cider vinegar rinse. African black soap tends to be alkaline in nature. So its advisable to rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar after washing your hair with the soap. This to ensure that the PH of your hair comes back to normal.

I have a video on my youtube channel showing how i liquify my African black soap for my thin fine natural hair. This is by far the best formula I’ve come up with. In order to find the best method for your hair type. You should experiment with a different formula.

    Ingredients and Tools

    • 250 ml water or more depending on how concentrated or how much shampoo you want.
    • 100-gram African black soap (dependent on the quantity of water)
    • 1 tablespoon of your favorite essential oils. Here is a list of my favorite essential oils.
    • knife
    • A bowl
    • A Funnel
    • One Gause to seave it.

    Directions

    1. Cut the African black soap in pieces. This helps the solid soap to melt quicker. Because i do not use hot water in the proses.
    2. Add the chopped soap in a bowl and add 500ml water to it.
    3. Add your 1 tablespoon (about 10 drops) of essential oils to it. Or any carrier oil of your choice.
    4. Stir the jar to dissolve the African black soap.
    5. let it sit for a few hours. I prefer to make mine sit for 24 hours.
    6. The next day i go ahead a seave it. I do this to separate the little particles from the black soap.
    7. At this point, you are all done. Go ahead and transfer it into a bottle.

Here are some benefits of african black soap for natural hair:

    • Adds Nutrients to the Scalp: African black soap is full of vitamins and minerals that can be absolved by your hair follicles to make your hair thicker and longer.
    • Softens Hair : this soap is known for its ability to soften and moisturize the hair compared to other shampoos. I still have the “wauw” moment each time i finishing shampooing my hair with this soap.
    • Cleanses the Scalp. I love that this soap is about to cleans my hair without making it dry. But then again african black soap is known for being antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial. It effectively cleans your scalp, leaving the perfect environment for follicle cells to grow hair. It’s an excellent cleanser to use for hair loss and other scalp conditions like eczema and itchy scalp.
    • Increases Hair Growth. This is by far my favourite of the benefit of African black soap. It promotes hair growth by increasing the blood circulation of the scalp. Especially when yous add the proper essential oils to it like showed in the video about.
